  2. Serenity -- 14 ft Peep Hen

Serenity 2007 October trip

October 13-October 23, 2007. Put in at Baldwin Bridge, Old Saybrook Connecticut. Lots of creek sailing, and a couple of forays onto Long Island sound, including over to Niantic. Complications with seasick crew, which made this primarily a river trip! Hauled out at Deep River.

Back River, with the sun going down.

  • Back River, with the sun going down.
  • Couldn't get enough of that perfect shadow!
  • Sunset, Back River, Shemaya dressed for the chilly evening. Outstanding stars came out in that sky!
  • Back River, behind Griswold Point. Long Island, New York in the far distance.
  • Griswold Island, west of Niantic
  • The bottom is so close, and the Peep Hen is still floating!
  • Shemaya, off Griswold Island
  • Near Black Point, just west of Niantic
  • Connecticut River, storm beginning
  • after the big storm, still basically dry inside!<br />
Inflatable radar reflector still hanging on flag halyard.
  • And still smiling! Two to 3 inches of rain in 10 hours, with tremendous wind. Delighted it was over!
  • Beatrice, and cooking arrangement on the port quarter. Camp stove screws onto top of disposable propane canister. Canister drops into 4 inch PVC (with cap on bottom, drilled for drainage). PVC pipe is attached to wood upright with large hose clamps. Out of the weather when the awning is up, close to the cutout at the stern so leaking propane would flow out of the boat before asphyxiating anybody.

  • swimming on October 22! Note Muppet pirate flag, also helping us avoid getting clobbered by duck hunters...
  • We'll be swimming soon!
  • Beatrice, Selden Creek
  • Swans, Connecticut River
  • Swans, affirming their connection -- all grace and beauty, and quiet sounds between themselves.

Absolutely gorgeous, every single shot! Are you sure those waves were only 2-3 feet? Gosh, they were at least double that in my mind :-)
